Internet and Networks
In politics social media and big data are used as methods to garner political activism, set agendas, influence ideas and gain more insight into voter perceptions, attitudes and opinions which makes it a strong influence and predictor of voter behavior ultimately effecting global governance and democracy. The Internet has transformed networks. Since the 1990‘s networks have exploded from the low millions to the low billions. During this time social media have become a way of life and the norm for communication for civil society, involving many actors. These actors include regular citizens, activists, nongovernmental organizations, telecommunications firms, software providers, and governments.
